Upper East Side
The Upper East Side used to end on 96th Street. Now, the boundaries have been stretched past 96th Street into the 100’s as upscale development has moved north. Within the Upper East Side is the old German neighborhood of Yorkville, centered on 86th Street and Third Avenue. Park, Lexington, Fifth and Madison Avenues make up perhaps the most affluent shopping district in the country. The neighborhood also boasts fine restaurants and schools, and is home to the top medical institutions in the world. These include Lenox Hill and Sloan Kettering.
